Case Study #1

Yellow Pages Advertising vs Website Marketing

The Hire Guys (www.thehireguys.com.au) provided us with some interesting data. They had been running a campaign on the Web and in Yellow Pages to see how much, how many and where their leads were coming from.

They predominantly use Yellow (previously Yellow Pages) and a website they commissioned us to build and position high on search engines. They used individual 1300 phone numbers to track the lead rates over the month of April 2009 into their 4 stores. Here are the results - they make interesting reading!

Web Leads = 668 (53.2%)
Yellow Leads = 589 (46.8%)
Total Leads 1257

As you can see, website leads beat the Yellow leads by 7%, but the ROI was a different story.

The website has been up for 3 years, so we took the total cost of our invoiced services and divided that by 3 years to give us the figures for the web. We know the Yellow cost. These are the results :

Cost of Web Leads = $0.60
Cost of Yellow Leads = $4.25

What a difference! The point here is not that Yellow is bad, far from it. But with regards to the effectiveness the optimised website comes out on top. As a website marketing company we love seeing this type of effect because it means we are delivering a much higher return on investment to our clients.
